Angels on a Mission

Angels on a Mission is a service club for 5th thru 8th graders of our parish. We have one or two activities monthly, either after school or on weekends. For those attending St. Dominic, a newsletter is sent via the Wednesday folders. For students of other schools, I send a newsletter through the CCD classes or by mail. If you are currently not a member, but would like to join, give me a call.

REMINDER:  If you have not signed up for Angels this year, you must do so no later than Sept.3rd (or Sunday, Sept. 12th for Rel. Ed.).

Officers for the year (only for 6th-8th graders, in Angels for at least one previous year, who are at school- I don’t have any way of meeting with officers except at recess):  We will be voting for the following offices- Pres., Vice Pres., Secretary, and 2 elected board members.  I will then appoint 4 more board members after elections.  In order to be considered for any office, please fill out the form on the back and turn it in to your homeroom teacher no later than Friday, Sept. 10th.  Be prepared to tell the group what activities you participated in last year and why you’d be a good officer this year.  Remember that I expect officers to participate in most functions, so if you’re really busy, don’t run.
            Elections will be held starting Wednesday, Sept. 15th at recess under the pavilion.  Bring a pencil or pen.  This process usually takes two days.

Saturday, Sept. 11th- I need only about 10 Angels who would like to give out lunches to police, ambulance workers, firemen, etc. We will be doing this at Hearthstone Retirement Home on Hillcrest from 11:00 – 1:00.  If you are sure you can do this, send me a note from your parent immediately.  I will take the first 10 folks who sign up.

Friday, Sept. 24th- We will have our commissioning ceremony during the 8:00 Mass.  Unlike past years, we will not be giving out angel pins.  They just got too expensive and our money can be used more wisely elsewhere.  If you want one, they might be available at Robert Moore & Co. for about $2.  On activity days, you can wear it on your shirt collar. (They are called “Angel on your Shoulder” pins.)

Saturday, Sept. 26th is “Walk for the Poor”. 
TIME:  registration is from 7:00 a.m. – 8:00a.m. (First 500 get t-shirts)  I’ll be there by 7:30.
Walk: starts at 8:00 and only lasts until about 8:45.
Those interested in walking must fill out the registration forms (in the school office and on the stdominicmobile.org website) and return them to Mrs. Upton or bring them the day of the event.  It is up to you if you want to get pledges for the cause, but our team goal is to raise $250.  (OUR TEAM NAME IS: ST. DOMINIC YOUTH) Bring the money raised to the event! You are responsible for your own transportation to and from the event.  But I would like us to meet and walk together.  Try and get your family to join us.

T-Shirts:  We have an Angels t-shirt that many of us wear for activities away from school.  If you want to order one, please send $10 along with the form on the back of this sheet.
Deadline for ordering:  Sept. 17th.
