It is hard to believe summer is here.  This has been a fast and exciting school year.  I know your students are ready for a break.  They have worked throughout the school year.  It is time for a rest. However, a little academic upkeep along with summer fun is not a bad thing.  I would suggest you encourage any activity that includes reading and math.  Fix a recipe, count the money in the “piggy bank”, write a diary/journal of the summer fun, write letters to friends, even play electronic games that have reading or math as part of the game.  Any activity can become a learning experience.  The trick is to look at it differently.  Summer will go by as fast as this school year has.  Soon we will start again. See you next year.
