Summer
Dear First Grade Parents,
It’s hard to believe that summer is here. It seems like yesterday when the students came in to meet us. We have enjoyed watching them grow throughout the year.
We know your child is looking forward to summer break. It is important that they continue working on some of the skills they were taught this year. It would be most helpful if they have their basic math facts memorized. Flashcards are great to use for this. Encourage your child’s love of reading by checking out books from the Public Library. They will have a suggested reading list for First Graders. We also suggest that they keep a summer journal. This will be a fun way to help them keep up their writing skills.
Here are a few web sites for first grade:

www.fungames.com
www.funbrain.com
www.bookadventure.com

We hope everyone has a happy and safe summer. Thank you for all your help and support. You helped make this a successful year for your child! Best of luck in second grade! We know they will bring lots of joy to their second grade teachers.
Sincerely,
The First Grade Teachers
