It all began 50 years ago when in 1958 Bishop Thomas Toolen announced the formation of a new parish to be known as St. Dominic. The parish was located on Cottage Hill Road and Rev. Joseph Adams was appointed as the founding pastor. The first Mass of the new parish was celebrated on October 5, 1958.
In February 1959 ground was broken for the first parish building at the Burma Road location. September 1961 marked the beginning of our school. In May 1974 the groundbreaking ceremony for the present church took place.
Now fast forward to the upcoming year where St. Dominic parishioners, former parishioners, alumni and friends will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the church’s founding. The year of celebration will begin October 8th with a reception after the 9:00 am Mass and will conclude with a Jubilee Mass celebrated by the Archbishop followed by a reception on October 5, 2008.
Jubilee festivities will include additional Mass celebrations, educational opportunities, a service project, musical concerts, social events and more. A schedule of events can be found below.
